Catchfrench Manor has been thoroughly but sympathetically updated to provide 12 bedrooms and 8 bath or shower rooms for groups of up to 24 people. There are eight bedrooms upstairs, and a further four in the downstairs apartments, which can also be utilised as two quasi-separate flats if desired, offering a quiet sanctuary for older members of the gathering.
In the living spaces, it boasts a Gallery containing a single dining table which can seat everybody, a Study equipped with double monitors and a Surface connection if you really must do some work, a large dual aspect Sitting Room with baby grand piano, a sitting room with a large open fireplace and curved bay window, TV room/snug next to the enormous and gloriously light main kitchen and a Playroom for children within earshot of the Aga range.
Downstairs are found two extra kitchens and a Games Room with a multi-games table for pool, air hockey and ping pong , as well as catering for more modern tastes with an X-Box complete with Game Pass.
Outside, there is a sheltered courtyard, dominated on one side by the magnificent Tudor Ruin, which contains the latest addition to Catchfrench, the wood-fired hot tub for up to 8 people. The former Great Hall now offers ideal outdoor entertaining space for warm summer evenings.
The grounds were designed by renowned landscape gardener Humphrey Repton in 1792, and are chiefly remarkable for the huge and varied rhododendrons, including reputedly the largest single rhododendron in Cornwall. In the spring, the extensive woodland is filled with wild garlic and bluebells, while there is also an orchard, flower meadow, rose garden and romantic quarry, offering year-round interest.
